Do I laugh or cry?

A wildfire has cut off access to my hunting unit, which in my mind translates to, “All that time spent practicing at the archery range this summer was a complete waste of time.”

I spent a week thinking about this, waiting for the news that the roads have opened and the sun is shining and everything is perfect again.

Wrong

Instead, the rains came and knocked down the fire but also brought flash floods which covered the road. Now I’m laughing as a song from Alanis Morissette plays in my head.

This happens every couple of years; fires threaten to stop the hunt.

As an alternative, I’m heading out for some trout fishing and a turkey hunt south of Montrose…see what happens there.
