Colorado Deer Season is something I look forward to every year. The sagebrush, the aspens, the quiet of the mountains. It’s good for my soul to spend time in lonely places.

Two weeks until opening day of archery season, and my bones feel good. I am usually going hard by now, lifting, rucking, and shooting three times a week. But bronchitis has slowed my lungs and legs way down. Today I dragged myself to the archery range and flung arrows at foam targets, enjoying the feeling of a bow in my hands. My eyes are getting better every week, my aim tightening. I’m grateful.
